Tags in Smart Receipts

Add as many coloured labels as you like to an expense, then filter lists, reports, and exports by them. Tags are how you group by trip, client, or claim without touching categories.

What it is

Name and colour

Every tag has a name and a colour, so tagged expenses stand out in the list.

Many per expense

Unlike categories, an expense can carry several tags, for example "Berlin trip" and "Tax deductible".

Filter anywhere

Filter the expense list, the spend-by-tag report, and PDF or CSV exports by one or more tags.

Backed up

Tags travel with your expenses in Dropbox and OneDrive backup.

Where it shows up

  • The Tags field on the expense form.
  • Reports: spend by tag, useful for comparing projects, trips, or clients.
  • Export: the Filter by Tags section on the export screen, for PDF and CSV.
  • The expense list, where tags show as coloured chips and can be used to narrow results.

Good to know

Tip: Create one tag per claim period or trip if you are an employee, and a "Tax deductible" tag if you are self-employed. One export filtered by that tag is then the whole claim or the whole quarter.

When you delete it: Deleting a tag removes it from every expense that used it. The expenses stay, but that filter is gone.
